Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Monday

Making the journey from the south side of the city. As you can see, the traffic is filling in nicely. A 45-minute drive can take up to an hour and a half during rush hour. On Monday morning, I spend time getting caught up on voicemail and e-mail. I have a weekly one-on-one with my boss, and I need to be prepared with what’s current! The only way for me to keep up with multiple tasks is by keeping lists! Sometimes, I need to use the whiteboard to make notes about the big picture or to keep a future...

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Tuesday

I spend quite a bit of time in my cubicle with my laptop “figuring it out” as Professor Noonan would say. The issues that arise are not always clear cut and require a blend of skills to address. As a newer student (first year), it’s important to me that I get to know my classmates. Also, I hope to positively impact other potential students. Whenever given the chance, I volunteer at recruitment events.

Collaborating is an important aspect of my job. Most meetings are scheduled, but we also quickly update in the hallway. I take notes in either situation, so I am clear about my next steps. It’s nice to smile in the office; It’s easy to do when you enjoy working with your colleagues! After another long day, I am headed to accounting class with notebooks, textbooks, and binders.

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Thursday

It’s nice to work at a place like Emory where there’s a beautiful backdrop. Even looking out over the streets, there a pleasant view! In addition to the view, we love visitors. Working in a team feels the same both in class and on the job…we generally crowd around the table with our laptops and discuss the focus of our project. Today, we updated slides for an upcoming event. When you can’t get out for lunch, you have to bring lunch to you! Food makes people happy, so I am always up for a working lunch. I’m hard at work...

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Friday

After working hard throughout the week, we took a small break to grab lunch. It’s nice to occasionally talk about non-work related topics over lunch. It’s been 5 long days, so I am always excited to start my journey home even if there is a little bit of traffic. I am heading home to my sweet, but busy family! We are all usually pretty tired on Friday, so it’s nice to spend an evening at home. Luckily, we have modern technology to keep us entertained. The boys enjoy playing both board and video games as a family. Although...

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Saturday

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Saturday

I spent Saturday morning at the soccer fields cheering on my older son and his team. The parents camp out on the sidelines for a weekly 1-hour game. We come prepared with snacks and activities for the siblings. After the game we have a little post-game brotherly love before snacks and juice pouches! If the boys weren’t tired enough, they were certainly worn out after the birthday party full of jumpy houses! I was tired for sure just trying to keep up with the life of a toddler!

Evening MBA Week in the Life: Ashley Teal – Sunday

Fellowship in the morning with family & friends is a perfect way to my Sunday. Lunch with family to enjoy one another’s company and delicious food! No weekend is complete without a toddler playdate & games! We start the Sunday night bedtime routine around 8:00. After the children are prepared for the week ahead (snacks & clothes organized), I spend some time on schoolwork. I try to get to bed early, so that I am not dragging during the week.
