EMORY VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION

Goizueta affiliates prevailed at the annual Emory University Veteran’s Day Celebration. The celebration is organized by the Emory Veteran’s Association (EVA), which is led by co-presidents and Goizueta MBA students Charles Stewart 17MBA and Steven Blackmon 17MBA. The MC of the event was Dr. Jeff Rosensweig, Goizueta professor of finance and director of the Global Perspectives Program. Goizueta alum U.S. Army Major Jonathan Keen gave the keynote speech for this year’s event. In addition, several active-duty Goizueta students were part of the color guard. VETERAN EXPERIENCE: ONE YEAR MBA

Submitted by Jen Kraus, Army veteran and One Year MBA ’17 After only six weeks in the accelerated one year MBA program, I am already preparing for finals week for the first set of core classes. Having spent the last ten years in the active Army as a logistics officer, I was nervous about adjusting to life outside the military but the whirlwind of the last six weeks has been an amazing experience.  Due to the small intimate environment, I have found many of the things I liked best about the military, most specifically the camaraderie and team building,...

Come to class Monday through Thursday…and stay for KEGS. Don’t let a last semester version of “senioritis” take into effect.  You’re in business school to learn, so remember how much...

ONE-YEAR AT GOIZUETA: BRETT PATTERSON – SPACE INVADERS TO CLASSMATES

“Ahh!  Who are these new people invading our space?” is the thought that instantly comes to the mind of a One-Year student come August.  All 62 of us have ruled the school and owned the building this summer.  It was all about us and we had more space than we ever needed.  Gone are the days of taking over an entire auditorium style classroom for a team meeting and knowing that food buffets and snacks in the halls are exclusively for us.  As the First-Year students began orientation, we were still able to sneak a few free lunches from...

ONE-YEAR AT GOIZUETA: JENNYFER GOUNÉ – Goizueta Consortium Experience in One Year

Looking back at this past year, many of my greatest memories happened with my fellow Consortium classmates here at Goizueta. From the Orientation Program in June to the end of year celebration and BBQ pool parties in between, the Consortium community here at Goizueta has made a profound impact on my overall GBS experience. Here is a snapshot of my year in the Emory Goizueta CGSM community! Summer 2014 Consortium Orientation Program (Austin, TX)      Fall 2014 Consortium Real Talk with Dean Brian Mitchell    Consortium Thanksgiving Potluck   Spring 2015 Consortium Game Night    End of Year...

SEMESTER SERIES : GISELLE BARRERA – The end of the first semester and “Dinner with the Dean”

SEMESTER SERIES : GISELLE BARRERA – The end of the first semester and “Dinner with the Dean”

The first semester of my Goizueta MBA was probably one of the busiest most challenging periods of my life. All the core courses are so content intensive that it’s hard to process all the information you are receiving at once. You are also adjusting to working with new people and networking with companies, figuring out what your dream job is and then working very hard towards getting it. But after final exams are over and you have a few days of peace, you look back and realize just how much you are able to accomplish in such a short...

SEMESTER SERIES : RACHAEL WADDELL – The Final Stretch: International Potluck Celebration

SEMESTER SERIES : RACHAEL WADDELL – The Final Stretch: International Potluck Celebration

Here at Goizueta, we definitely abide by the “work hard, play hard” mentality. GBS is known for a particularly rigorous first semester CORE in order to prepare us for upcoming internship interviews. Following a punishing few months in Block 1 and Block 2, it was time to celebrate. And boy, did we have some fun! The International Potluck is a hallmark Goizueta event. All of our international students work so hard to make signature dishes from their home country. While it gets somewhat competitive, I’m not complaining when it comes to the results! It’s not small feat to cook...

The Second Year Scene : Amritha Alladi – Keystone Week, Illuminate the path ahead

The Second Year Scene : Amritha Alladi – Keystone Week, Illuminate the path ahead

Every year at Goizueta Business School, second-year, Full-Time MBA students return to campus, with a little more bounce in their step, holding their heads a little higher. With summer internships behind them, students are more confident in their abilities. While all of them have gained valuable knowledge and skills from their internship experiences, not all students come back to school with a clear idea of what they want to pursue. Some may even be a little more ambivalent. One elated group returns with full-time offers, another anxious bunch await full-time offers; some consider joining other companies, while others realize...
